Green Grass and a Picket Fence

For one reason or another, I have always loved being outside in the sunshine.  I especially love wide open fields and green grass that allows for fun games of catch or soccer or frisbee or just a good ol’ fashion picnic.  That’s why it is so important to me to create such a space for our little ones to grow up with.  I’d rather spend my time outside than in, and just enjoy all that nature has to offer.

Thanks to my husband, this dream became a reality and we now have an awesome place with so much room for activities!

The back of our property houses our farm animals and has a slight slope to it.  The first thing we had to do was level out an area and build a retaining wall.

Here’s what it looked like before:

Then we started digging a trench and started stacking the pieces of the wall in place.

Ta-da!  A wall has been formed, and nice-level area for playing!

After we picked up some lumber at our local Lowe’s, the real fun began and Nathaniel started measuring out the placement of the posts.  Instead of digging a hole and filling it with concrete, Nathaniel bought metal posts that you drive in and then screw the wood posts on the surface.  It was much easier to install.

Now the panels get put up!

This project has been one of my favorites during this remodel process because when it was completed you can really start to see our dreams of this property coming together.  Little by little, step by step, this place is coming to life.
