As soon as we got a notification (in the middle of the night, might I add) for a house in the coveted Eucalyptus Hills community (East County San Diego) we just knew it was the one for us. We knew, because when we first started looking at houses and traveling to different areas, Eucalyptus Hills was the only place we truly fell in love with. Our Dream location. Honestly, we didn’t even care what the house looked liked, we just wanted to be there. So, as soon as 7am hit the next morning we called our realtor to see what we could do to get our foot in the door. He did a drive by of the place on his way to work that morning and took some pics of the outside for us. They didn’t look that great, but we held out hope that this place had good bones. About a day later they were having an open house, and we got there right on time to check it out for ourselves. We looked passed the clutter, the paint chipped siding, the 6 out-buildings, trash, and overgrown landscape. What we saw instead, was a diamond in the rough. A house that was neglected but still had a little life left to it. A view to die for. Space to move. A place that we could make our own, and raise a family in. We delivered our finest offer on the house, adding a personal story and some character behind it, and as it turned out we got it! It was a pretty amazing feeling.
Here are some pictures of what the place looked like when we moved in and some of the progress we have made. I’ll be updating each room as they are remodeled and finished.
